Nature has always been my greatest teacher. My art is simply a conversation with it, shared with you.

Meet The Artist

James A. Truett, Artist, walking in woodland.

James A. Truett

James A. Truett is an artist and photographer based in County Clare, Ireland. His work focuses on nature, landscapes, and abstract forms, with an approach that deliberately blurs the boundary between photography and painting.

“My work is not about capturing scenes exactly as they appear, but about preserving how they felt to be there. The stillness. The breath of air. The sense of time slowing, if only for a moment.”

Using soft focus, subtle transitions, and atmospheric light, Truett creates images that carry the visual and tactile qualities of impressionist canvases while remaining rooted in the photographic process. The result is a calm, dreamlike aesthetic that invites sustained looking rather than quick consumption.

"When someone chooses one of my pieces for their home, I feel like I’m sharing a small piece of my own journey with them."

“Many collectors tell me they don’t just see my work, they feel it. That connection is everything to me.”

The story begins With A Feeling

When you choose one of my works, you’re not simply selecting an image. You’re inviting a moment of peace into your space. A reminder to pause. To breathe. To reconnect.

My hope is that these pieces become part of your daily rhythm. Something you notice differently as the light changes. Something that grounds you in a busy world.

“My work begins outdoors, but it’s finished inside the quiet space where memory, emotion, and light meet.”

Art that Feels.

Collections that Inspire.

“If one of my pieces gives you a moment of calm in a noisy world, then it has done exactly what I hoped it would do.”

Impressionist Works: Limited Edition Series

Painterly works, unified by an impressionist approach.

This series brings together James A. Truett’s most resolved painterly works, unified by an impressionist approach that blurs the boundary between photography and painting.

While many images are drawn from the Irish landscape, the series is not defined by geography. Instead, it is guided by atmosphere, light, and emotional resonance. Each work prioritises sensation over description, inviting the viewer into an experience of place rather than a record of it.

All works in this series are produced as limited editions and represent a central pillar of the artist’s practice.

Tides of Tomorrow: Limited Edition Series

A contemplative reflection on change, fragility, and the shifting edge between land and sea.

Tides of Tomorrow is a contemplative exploration of time, change, and the evolving relationship between land and sea.

Inspired by rising tides, shifting coastlines, and generational memory, the series reflects on transformation without spectacle or alarm.

These works are intentionally restrained, inviting reflection rather than immediacy.

Issued as limited editions, the series is designed to reveal meaning gradually through prolonged engagement.

Moods Of Ireland: Open Editions

What My Collectors Say

“Everything about it is breathtakingly beautiful. This is a Masterpiece.”

“Just when I thought I had the most beautiful pieces of art from James A. Truett's collection, he creates this! The Portal to Dromore Wood in County Clare, framed by the lovely entrance to the Church of The Holy Rosary in Castlebar, County Mayo got my attention immediately. Everything about it is breathtakingly beautiful. This is a Masterpiece, James. ”

“This is not artwork that hangs on a wall. This is artwork that pulls the viewer in.”

"James' artwork speaks to me. No artist has captured the essence of Ireland and her beauty like he has. It triggers an emotional response, not just a visual. I don't just 'see' the picture, I am actually there, in the scene, hearing, smelling, touching the surroundings. This is not artwork that hangs on a wall. This is artwork that pulls the viewer in.”

“he finds beauty and colour in an area that is frequently portrayed for just its rugged beauty.”

"I just received my first two prints of the Carrigaholt/Moyarta area of County Clare, and they are fantastic. This is the ancestral home of the Kelly/Griffin clan, and James took some incredible shots of that area for us. Thank you to James for this. What caught my attention to his work in the first place is that he finds beauty and color in an area that is frequently portrayed for just its rugged beauty. I will be ordering more for the family collection as time goes on.”

“I have it proudly displayed with some more of James' works on a wall dedicated to his photos.”

"I had approached James via text to see if he had a picture that I could pair with a poem I had written. James shared this picture with me and all of his other followers. This picture covered everything I had requested, and I was delighted with its content. I thank James and have it proudly displayed with some more of James' works on a wall dedicated to his photos. Thank You James.”

My Process

Every Piece Begins Outdoors Before I Lift My Camera

Every piece begins in stillness. I spend time in the landscape until light, air, and emotion settle into quiet harmony. I am not chasing a scene. I am waiting for the moment when it feels alive.

In the studio, I digitally shape the image as a painter would with brushes, refining tone and atmosphere until it carries not just what was seen, but what was felt. What matters most is that the finished work holds a sense of depth and calm that continues to reveal itself over time.

Frequent Questions

Are the artworks available in different sizes or formats?

Yes! Many of my pieces are offered in a variety of physical sizes and as Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). Whether you’re looking for a statement piece or something more intimate, I can help you find the perfect fit for your space.

Are your works originals, open or limited editions?

Each work is clearly designated. My limited editions are intentionally small and permanently closed once complete. When an edition sells out, I do not revisit it. That boundary protects the integrity of the work and the confidence of those who have acquired it. Every limited edition piece is signed and numbered. I consider that gesture a quiet contract between us.

What makes this work truly collectible?

Collectibility is not manufactured. It emerges over time. It comes from consistency of vision, disciplined release, and a body of work that deepens rather than chases trends. My painterly impressionist practice is rooted in atmosphere, light, and emotional stillness — themes I have returned to again and again. When you acquire a piece, you are not purchasing an isolated image. You are entering into a larger, unfolding narrative. That continuity matters.

Will the edition ever be reproduced?

No. Once closed, it remains closed. Permanently. Collectors deserve certainty. I structure my releases accordingly.

What materials are used?

I produce my limited editions using museum-grade archival papers and pigment inks selected for their tonal depth and longevity. The intention is permanence — work that matures gracefully in your space and retains its presence for decades. This is not ephemeral art. It is meant to live with you.

What accompanies the artwork?

Each limited edition includes:

• My signature and edition number

• A Certificate of Authenticity

• Archival production standards

• Professional, insured shipping

Every detail — from printing to packaging — is handled with deliberation. I remain closely involved in the process.

How should the piece be framed and cared for?

I recommend museum-standard framing with acid-free materials and UV-protective glazing. Framing should feel architectural and restrained. The work itself should breathe. If you would like guidance, I am always available. Many collectors value that dialogue, and I welcome it.

Do you work with international collectors?

Yes, regularly. Collectors around the world live with my work. Each piece is professionally packed and shipped fully insured. Discretion and reliability are assumed standards. Wherever you are, the process is handled with care.

Can I schedule a private viewing or consultation?

Of course! I offer personalised consultations to help you select the ideal artwork for your home, office, or collection. Contact me to arrange a private gallery viewing, virtual tour, or design consultation.

How do I know if a piece is right for me?

There is usually a moment of recognition. The right work does not demand attention — it holds it quietly. It lingers. It reshapes the atmosphere of a room even before installation. Collectors often tell me they knew immediately. The hesitation usually comes later. Trust the first response.

Is art a meaningful long-term acquisition?

Art first alters how a space feels. That alone has profound value. Over time, artists who maintain disciplined editions, steady exhibition presence, and a clear body of work tend to see sustained collector interest. I approach my career deliberately. I am building something enduring, not momentary. But the truest return is living with something that continues to move you.

Do you accept private commissions?

Select commissions are considered when alignment exists. When I undertake a commission, it is not transactional. It is collaborative and thoughtful. I work closely with the collector to ensure the resulting piece feels inevitable in its setting.

What happens when an edition sells out?

It remains closed. The works that quietly stay in your thoughts are often the ones meant for your collection. Many collectors have told me their only regret was waiting. I release work carefully. I cannot guarantee availability.

How Can I Receive Early Access to New Work?

Collectors who wish to see new releases before public presentation may become part of my Collector’s Circle. Members receive advance previews and priority consideration. Many significant works are placed privately before broader announcement. It is a quieter way to collect.
